Faith over fear

Sermon: Faith over Fear by Jeff LaBorg

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”

Hey Resty, i know this has been a long time coming but couldn’t let the year end without sending you this. The devil is a liar!

Well, above is my favorite verse in the Bible and it always keeps me going amidst the challenges. Whenever i feel low, i always remember it.

I relate with the sermon “faith over fear” in so many ways. I’ve been in a situation that i never saw myself getting out of.

This was in 2020 when Covid 19 hit the world. I had done well for myself at an early age. Owning a shop and at the same time a CEO of a company. I can say life was good and comfortable. Everything was working in my favor until Covid 19 came in. And boom the lockdown. This affected me so much and by the time it was lifted, things had completely changed.

I had to close my shop and sell off so many things at a loss. I had to pay up so many expenses. My bank balance was altered, my other service providing business got stranded because the economy was so poor. Things got tough and i had to think of a way out of it.

The only option i had with the little balance on my account was to fly out of the country in search for a job as advised by a friend because i couldn’t think of any business idea working out at the moment.

The hardest part about the decision i had made was leaving my 7year old daughter behind. I had never imagined or thought of it. This was tough for me. Anyone that knows me knows the strong bond and love between me and my daughter. The thought was like a sharp blade cutting through my heart.
A lot was going through my mind.

I was on YouTube one day trying to get a baking recipe when i came across Pastor Jeff LaBorg’s sermon “Faith over fear” Iam a very impatient person especially when it comes to listening but i was forced to listen to it. This got me motivated and uplifted. It took away all the fear i had in me. It made me fearless and determined.

So i woke up one day, applied for the visa, talked to my daughter and traveled. And i can say i made the right decision because everything worked out perfectly for me.

God has been so good to me and am yet to achieve more. Sometimes, He wants us to take the toughest steps in order to get us out of the toughest situations. I guess He wanted to test my strength and see how far i could go. If i hadn’t taken that step, I wouldn’t be where iam today, because the economy back home hasn’t gotten any better.

Come to think of it, how much of our lives have been shaped by fear? The fear of death, disease, tragedy, rejection and failure. These are powerful forces that can dominate our thoughts and steal our dreams. Many of us probably don’t even realize how much we have allowed fear to shape us and limit us. The torment of fear is a terrible dictator.

I refer to myself as a very fearless woman and this is what i want to teach my daughter. I want her to grow up strong knowing she can achieve it all. Because when we take the time to contemplate the power of fear, we can begin to understand why we often miss out on God’s best for our lives. His love has been poured in our hearts and the potential to live free from fear is within. “He has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7

I have no sad days because i know God’s gat me. There’s nothing tough he brings my way that He knows i can’t handle.

I wake up everyday fearless and ready to face any challenges because i know He can get us from any situation and lift us up again.
Getting a true revelation of God’s love is the only thing that can loosen the grip of fear in our lives. The more you know His love, the more you will recognize all the fear that has bound you and you will be able to be free once and for all.

We should never let fear dominate us.
my favorite verse has impacted my life so much and it has helped me aim higher.
