“To place your faith in Jesus is not an event, it is a practice.”
At first, when my aunty Resty asked me to write a post about my favorite sermon, I was very nervous. “Am I meant to do this?” A lot of thoughts came running through my head. I thought about it and realized she didn’t ask me without a reason. She asked me for a reason. She asked me because she believed in me.
Instantly I had one sermon in mind-“The Facts Aren’t Final” by Steven Furtick. In this sermon, he talks about the gospel of Mark chapter 5 verse 35 when a Jewish man came to Jesus with a bad report. His daughter was dying. To that, Jesus answered: “Be not afraid, only believe.” These words might seem simple but in fact, they are not. They apply to situations of life or death but also to your daily life.
There will always be…
-Moments of weakness and moments of strength
-Moments of knowledge and moments of ignorance
-Moments of highs and moments of lows
Life is a process of ups and downs. But one thing you will always have to do is to believe in Jesus. Believe in God. All the time! Don’t just believe when you need something from him. Always believe in him. He is always there. Always in your presence. Even when you can’t see him, He is there watching over you.
Just because you failed one math test does not mean you are bad at maths. Just because you didn’t come in the first place doesn’t mean that you never will. Just because you messed up a recipe once doesn’t mean you should never try it again. One failed friendship/relationship does not mean all will fail.
The facts aren’t final! The facts don’t set you free, the truth does. And HE is the truth. Jesus. It’s not the End. He is a new beginning. Or as Jenna Raine says: “This isn’t goodbye, this is simply a see you later”
The Lord is with you.
